Personal Interests &
Other Skills

Other interests I have besides filmmaking include psychology and drama, both of which I consider when making a film. Human interaction and how people look and act in conversation or when around other people is something I research to help direct my actors. I often discuss with my actors how people react in certain situations, particularly when their character is interacting with somebody who they aren't comfortable around.

I have experience with acting and performing arts myself. Before I began working as part of the crew for UK Film Academy, I spent some years as a student there, learning various performance techniques. I was also the teacher at a  drama class for a little over a year and directed their Summer showcase and pantomime in 2019.

I love hiking and rock climbing and will take my photography kit anytime I go. At the top of my bucket list is shooting a film while climbing a mountain.

Another interest of mine is the study of horror and what gets into people's heads. I have had lots of experience with the horror genre, performing in, writing and directing many horror films. When it comes to making my own horror films, I study the genre in a range of cultures; the presentation of horror in Japanese films, stories and other media has been a great influence on some of the more psychological elements of the genre. In my short films 'Divided' and 'Oppressor', the use of situations that can be suggested onto one's own life (such as mental health, homophobia, and relationships) is something that I have learned to use through my research of psychology and horror amongst various cultures.

My biggest inspirations are the Neil Marshall-helmed 2005 creature-feature 'The Descent' and the 'Silent Hill' media franchise for their terrifying use of psychology in my personal favourite genre: horror.
